Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Book3 Pro 900 preorders sold out as soon as they hit the market on 11street, an official online partner of Samsung Electronics, backed by large discounts, according to industry officials, Monday.

"Performance has been upgraded along with the display as well as the current CPU, which is equipped with the latest Intel 13th-generation CPU, while user convenience was also greatly improved," a Samsung Electronics official said. "There was also a double storage promotion this time, and the reasonable price seems to have attracted customers."

Taking advantage of diverse promotions including card company discounts, the Galaxy Book3 Pro, which is priced at 1.88 million won ($1,506) could be purchased for a price much closer to 1 million won.

Industry officials believe Samsung Electronics introduced the Galaxy Book3 Pro at a discounted price because of its lack of presence in the global laptop market. Samsung Electronics' global share in the sector is around 1 percent.

Samsung Electronics seems to be aiming to change the tide with the Galaxy Book3 series, which offers both performance and price competitiveness.

"The fact that we carried out the Unpack event at the same time as the Galaxy smartphone shows that we are determined to grow the PC business," said Lee Min-chul, vice president of Samsung Electronics' MX Division who held the Galaxy Book3 Briefing at the Nico Hotel in San Francisco on Feb. 2. "This year, we will increase the share of premium laptop sales from 50 percent to 60 percent with the Galaxy Book3 at the forefront."

Samsung Electronics introduced the Galaxy Book3 Ultra, a premium lineup for the first time for the Galaxy Book series. The product is equipped with an Intel Core i9 processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 external graphics for laptops, allowing for smooth running of high-performance activities such as graphics work or high-end games.

"This year, in line with market and consumer trends, we introduced the Galaxy Book3 Ultra equipped with a high-performance CPU and GPU to further increase our influence in the premium market," Lee said. "By completing the premium lineup with the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 form factor and the Galaxy Book3 Pro with an ultra-slim and ultra-light design, we expect to be able to increase our presence further in the market."

In addition, Samsung Electronics will offer pre-orders of the Galaxy S23 series from Feb. 7 to 13 with three models on sale ―S23 Ultra, S23 Plus. and S23. Each model will be available in green, cream, lavender and phantom black.
