Korea Ginseng Corp. (KGC), a state-run ginseng manufacturer, will promote the positive health benefits of Korean red ginseng in Qatar, where sports fans from around the world will gather for the FIFA World Cup. The quadrennial showpiece international football tournament will begin Nov. 20 (local time) and continue through Dec. 18. Thirty-two teams will compete across 64 matches.

The Korean firm will run ads of Cheong Kwan Jang, Korea's leading red ginseng brand with over 120 years of tradition, in major commercial districts in the country. The brand's products help boost the immune system, increase stamina and enhance physical energy, according to the firm.

The brand's flagship products such as Cheong Kwan Jang Everytime, a stick-type ginseng extract, will be sold at over 200 stores across the country.

The extract type increases the efficacy of ginseng absorption by up to four times, compared to ginseng capsules or pills made from powdered ginseng root.

"Our 120 years of experience and research has shown that the extract type is the most effective way for the body to absorb ginseng nutrients," a KGC official said.

The firm's master ginseng researchers ensure that only the best ginseng roots are harvested to make top-quality products.

"Our products are popular with people of all ages, especially with middle-aged men who are concerned about their health and improving their immunity and physical strength," the official said.

Customers will be able to buy the products at Holland & Barrett, a multinational chain of health food shops with over 1,300 stores in 16 countries. The chain has a substantial presence in Europe and China, Hong Kong, India, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Other than Holland & Barrett, the Korean health product will be available at high-end local retailer Almeera Consumer Goods and its French multinational peer Carrefour, as well as 200 stores in various soccer stadiums.

KGC global businesses department head Kim Hyung-sook said the firm will continue efforts to strengthen brand recognition on the global stage.

"We will promote the health benefits of Korean red ginseng in Qatar, a stepping stone to broaden the scope of our customer base all across the Middle East and beyond," she said.
