DJ Mosaken, an Austria-based DJ and social media powerhouse, has performed in over 40 countries, from the UAE to the U.S., but he's about to add another nation to the map this weekend, when he hits the decks at Lit Lounge in central Seoul's Itaewon.
"I have never been to Korea and I am super stoked to come to Seoul and play at Lit Lounge," Mosaken told The Korea Times. "Seoul has been on my bucket list for a long time and I can't wait to finally cross it off."
Mosaken's sound is an open-format blend of hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, mash-ups, reggaeton, afrobeats, dance classics and hits from the 1970s to the 1990s.
He is also Austria's top-rated musician on social media with over a million fans across all platforms.
He provided a bit of advice for those who want to know what it took to get where he is. "You have to be consistent. Never give up. Work on yourself. On your dreams, your goals... and keep pushing," he said. "With talent, consistency and a little bit of luck, you will be successful and achieve any goal you have."
He now has over two decades of experience, having shared stages and opened for stars like Lil Jon, Flo Rida, Sean Paul, Method Man, Xzibit and Redman. He also runs an agency in Austria booking the biggest hip-hop events in the country.
"And this is only the beginning," he added. "I will stay consistent and keep pushing. The best is yet to come."
As a content creator, he has also collaborated with big-name brands such as Nike, Microsoft and Red Bull, as well as local conglomerates LG and Samsung. He has promoted Samsung products like The Freestyle smart projector and the Q990C sound bar.
"I have worked with many international brands in the past and also with some great Korean brands which I am proud of," he said.
When asked if he has ever collaborated with any Korean musicians, he answered, "Not yet but I would love to."
He namedropped Zion.T, Jay Park, Loco and Hoody, all of which he said are on his Spotify playlist. "I listen to a lot of Korean R&B," he said. "I don't understand the language but I love the vibe."
Although his roots come from outside Austria, he has lived all his life there and considers Vienna his hometown.
"I have lived all my life here... I feel as an Austrian most of the time," he said. "We have people from all different cultures and backgrounds. I love that."
He added that the city has at least 10 Korean restaurants and that one of the things he's looking forward to most in Korea is the food.
"I can't wait for all the Korean food," he said. "I do have a food blog with 130,000 followers. I will shoot lots of content in Seoul from street food to fine dining. Make sure to follow me so you can see all the food videos."
The doors open at 8 p.m. this Saturday, and the party starts at 10 p.m. Entry is only 10,000 won, and limited VIP table reservations are available.
