A group of top executives of Standard Chartered (SC) Group met at the SC Bank Korea for a board meeting, a clear indication of the group’s committed partnership with Korea, the local subsidiary of the global lender said Thursday.
Among them were SC Group Board Chairman Jose Vinals, group Chairman Bill Winters, the board of directors and other senior executives. The group’s first board meeting in Korea took place in 2018.
The meeting was held at the SC Bank Korea's headquarters in Jongno, Seoul, to strengthen communications between executives and employees and to support their business activities.
The group’s board directors and management regularly hold board meetings in major markets around the world.
The executives attended the Diversity & Inclusion Committee session and the Women in Entrepreneurship workshop. They also met with young leaders of the local subsidiary.
SC Group is not only bolstering economic development, international trade and investment but also working with customers, businesses and local communities as best encapsulated by the brand’s “here for good” motto, according to the board chairman Jose Vinals.
“Korea is an important partner to us and is a strategic market hub for the SC Group to expand presence through global trade and investment channels," he said.
The sentiment is echoed by group chairman Winters. “Korea is one of SC Group’s major markets and is the fifth-largest revenue generator for us, accounting for 7 percent of the group’s revenue total,” he said.
“SC Group recognizes that the Korean market continues to change. We encourage innovation and are making strategic investments in business, a proof of SC Group’s vision of bolstering the development and prosperity of the region that has our presence.”
SC Group is a global financial group with over 170 years of history and has a combined 86,000 executives and employees of 131 nationalities across 53 markets around the world.
