Hyundai Motor said Friday it has signed an agreement with the South Chungcheong Province government to supply hydrogen fuel cell buses as part of the local government's carbon neutrality initiative.
Under the agreement, Hyundai Motor will supply its Elec City and Universe hydrogen fuel cell buses in stages starting this year. The buses will be utilized for city and intercity routes, as well as school and workplace commutes.
The provincial government aims to replace 1,200 diesel buses with hydrogen-powered buses by 2030.
In addition, Hyundai Motor plans to establish six hydrogen commercial vehicle service hubs in the region to ensure smooth operations and maintenance.
"Beyond supplying hydrogen buses, we will continue to expand hydrogen vehicle service hubs to support the province's seamless hydrogen transportation operations," a company official said. (Yonhap).
