K-pop singer Kim Dongyoung, better known as Doyoung of boy group NCT, will be dropping another solo song about two months after “17."
The artist's agency SM Entertainment announced that he will release a remake of singer-songwriter Jung Joon-il's "First Love" on Oct. 1. The song will be the first segment of the agency's First Love Project.
The original song, written by Jung and sung by SOLE, has been known as one of Doyoung's favorite songs, which he frequently recommended to his fans.
"(Doyoung's) 'First Love' is an emotional ballad that reinterprets Jung Joon-il's original 'First Love (feat. SOLE)', released in 2021, through his warm vocals," the agency said in the release.
"With his clear tone and excellent emotional expression, Doyoung is expected to deliver the perfect mood for the autumn season, depicting the excitement of first love in a melancholic way."
The First Love Project, which sets off with Doyoung's remake song, will feature a series of songs that portray romantic feelings under the theme of first love.
"The First Love Project is aimed at evoking clumsy yet sincere memories of first love that are kept deep within one's heart," the agency said. "The emotions and memories that Doyoung, known for his sweet vocal style, will convey through 'First Love' are anticipated."
Doyoung, who debuted in 2016 as a member of NCT U, has been active in two sub-unit groups of multinational K-pop group NCT, NCT 127 and NCT Dojaejung. The unit groups have released a string of hit songs including "Limitless" (2019) "Kick It" (2020), "Fact Check" (2023) and "Perfume" (2023).
He embarked on his solo career this year, releasing his first solo album "Youth," in April. Following his solo debut, the artist had his first solo concert tour "2024 DOYOUNG CONCERT [ Dear Youth ]," in which he traveled to nine different regions in Asia, including Osaka, Hong Kong and Bangkok. The tour wrapped with a Jakarta concert on Saturday.
The artist is set to hold more concerts at Olympic Park in Songpa District, Seoul from Nov. 1 through 3.
