Kia's flagship electric vehicle, the EV9, is gaining global attention after winning honors and international awards in a number of countries based on its performance and design, according to the giant automaker, Sunday.
The EV9's latest recognition came from Denmark and Spain. The Danish Car of the Year 2024, organized by Danske Motorjournalister, an Association of Danish Motor Journalists, saw the SUV picking up Innovation Award 2024. In Spain, the car claimed the Moveo Car of the Year Award 2023, given by the local daily, La Vanguardia, which was conducted with an expert evaluation and a poll by subscribers.
Previously in November, the EV9 grabbed a number of headlines in the U.K. where it won Family Car of the Year in the 2023 TopGear.com Awards organized by the BBC's Top Gear magazine.
The car has also been a finalist in 2024 North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year, European Car of the Year 2024 and 2024 World Car Awards.
The EV9 has gained people's attention around the world throughout this year when the company introduced the all-electric unit. It won the Reader Award in the UK's 2023 Car of the Year Awards by auto market reviewer, What Car?, in January.
It then won the luxury category in Germany's 2024 German Car of the Year in September. Additionally, the vehicle also won the Best Premium SUV and Best SUV Interior categories in the 2023 Newsweek Autos Awards and won yet further recognition in the Family Car category in the 2023 Golden Steering Wheel Awards in November.
The three-row, large-size SUV has a 99.8 kilowatt-hour battery with a 400/800V multi-charging system and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function. The software-defined vehicle (SDV) keeps itself up-to-date via the Kia Connect Store's software updates. Its design takes inspiration from the company's key design motto, Opposites United, which combines contrasting qualities and finds synergies between opposing concepts, mainly from the disparity between nature and humanity.
