By Lee Min-young

Cho Sung-hwan, CEO of Hyundai Mobis, the world's leading auto parts company headquartered in Seoul, has recently announced his plan to embark on a new journey, deciding to run for the presidency of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

ISO is the world's largest standards organization with more than 24,000 international standards applicable to various industries.

Cho is the first Korean to run for president of the non-profit organization. He will compete against the Chinese Academy of Machinery Science and Technology Group Chairman Decheng Wang.

Cho has almost 30 years of experience in the automotive industry as an R&D expert with Hyundai Motor Group. Prior to joining Hyundai Mobis, he served as CEO of Hyundai Autron, a former semiconductor and electronic control unit provider, now a part of Hyundai Autoever.

The election will be held during the ISO General Assembly in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, in September.
