An affiliate of Kumho Tire, Kumho America Technical Center, has made it to Rubber News' "Best Places to Work" list in 2023, the company said Sunday. Rubber News, the conductor of the survey, is a prominent media outlet that reports on the North American rubber industry.
A total of nine companies were selected as the most worker-friendly from a survey of some 1,000 businesses with 15 or more employees which engage in rubber production and manufacturing or other related sectors in North America.
"The key to corporate competitiveness is the ability to attract talented individuals," Kumho Tire's R&D Division head Cho Man-sik said. "We will maintain good working conditions and employee-friendly corporate culture to get the best out of Kumho America Technical Center (KATC) employees and position ourselves as a trusted and reliable global brand."
The survey chose qualified organizations by evaluating them against a comprehensive set of criteria, including environmental factors such as company policy and practices and the experience and attitude of individual employees with respect to their companies.
KATC, which has been put on the list of the most employee-friendly companies, started in Akron, Ohio, in 1990 and has since strived to create products geared toward the U.S. market.
It collects and analyzes market trends and information on new technologies to develop tires tailored to the needs of North American consumers. KATC also performs activities such as international sales support.
To congratulate Kumho Tire on the selection of KATC as a "Best Place to Work" in North America on behalf of Ohio Governor Mike Dewine, officials from Team NEO, a business development partner based in Northeastern Ohio, visited the Kumho Tire Central R&D Center located in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
Team NEO is a non-profit organization in Ohio that works with major companies, foundations, chambers of commerce, and other business development organizations to attract investment from businesses and help them grow.
Kumho Tire and Team Neo discussed ways to recruit engineers in Ohio, train employees, develop internship programs, and secure tax benefits and logistics subsidies for the purchase of new research-related equipment.
"Kumho Tire produces engineers in line with global trends and offers programs designed to ensure the right balance between work and life, which leads to high work satisfaction levels and great research outcomes. We are thrilled to see these efforts recognized and have us selected as a best place to work in North America," Managing Director at KATC Rick Cunat said.
Governor of Louisiana John Bel Edwards also visited the Kumho Tire headquarters in Seoul on March 10, to announce the expansion of its partnership with the company in connection with the establishment of a distribution center in New Orleans.
Through the addition of warehouses in the U.S., Kumho Tire expects to better respond to changes in the global logistics environment, expand its sales network in the U.S. market, and strengthen its logistics competitiveness.
