Top-tier actor Kim Soo-hyun will set up his own agency with his cousin, according to reports, Wednesday.
톱 배우 김수현이 사촌과 함께 1인 기획사 설립을 준비하고 있다는 보도가 나왔다.
Kim reportedly will not renew his contract with KEYEAST, which has been representing him since his debut in 2007. KEYEAST is the management company founded by actor Bae Yong-joon.
김수현은 2007년 데뷔 이후 자신을 대변해 온 키이스트와 재계약을 하지 않을 것으로 알려졌다. 키이스트는 배우 배용준이 설립한 매니지먼트 회사다.
Kim will team up with his cousin, filmmaker Lee Sa-rang. He featured in Lee's action flick "Real" in 2017, before serving obligatory military service. Kim and Lee are known to have a strong friendship.
김수현은 그의 사촌인 이사랑 감독과 팀을 이룰 전망이다. 그는 군복무를 하기 전인 2017년 이사랑 감독의 액션 영화 '리얼'에 출연했다. 김 씨와 이 씨는 친분이 두터운 것으로 알려졌다.
The name of Kim's new agency is not known, but reports said actress Seo Ye-ji and Kim Sae-ron are likely to join it. Seo, in particular, will play opposite Kim in the tvN drama "Psycho, But It's Okay," which is set to premiere early next year.
김수현의 새 기획사의 사명은 아직 알려지지 않았지만, 여배우 서예지와 김새론이 김수현의 회사에 합류할 것 같다는 보도가 나왔다. 특히 서예지는 내년 초 방영 예정인 tvN 드라마 '싸이코지만 괜찮아'에서 김수현의 상대역으로 호흡을 맞춘다.
But KEYEAST denied Kim's departure, saying it is in talks with the actor over the contract renewal.
그러나 키이스트 측은 재계약에 대해 배우와 논의 중이라며 김수현의 이탈을 부인했다.
"We haven't heard any news about Kim's establishment of his agency," a spokesperson was quoted as saying.
키이스트의 대변인은 "김수현의 1인 기획사 설립 소식은 들은 바 없다"고 말했다.
Kim, 31, was catapulted to fame after appearing in the dramas "Dream High" (2011), "Moon Embracing the Sun" (2012) and "My Love from the Star" (2013-14). In 2015, at 27, he became the youngest winner of the KBS Drama Awards. He returned to civilian life in July after 21 months of military duty.
김수현(31)은 드라마 '드림하이'(2011년), '해를 품은 달'(2012년), '별에서 온 그대'(2013-14년)에 출연하며 갑자기 스타덤에 올랐다. 그는 2015년 27세의 나이로 KBS 연기대상에서 최연소 대상 수상자가 됐다. 김수현은 21개월의 군 복무를 마치고 지난 7월 민간인 신분으로 돌아왔다.
