For a one-day promotion celebrating its 50th anniversary, Starbucks Korea serves beverages in reusable cups at a coffee shop in Seoul on Sept. 28. Yonhap


Local customers are urging Starbucks Korea to restrict one person from purchasing more than one drink during special merchandise giveaways.
국내 고객들이 스타벅스코리아가 특별 상품 증정 기간에 한 사람 당 한 잔 이상 구매하는 것을 제한하도록 촉구하고 있다.


Celebrating its 50th anniversary on Sept. 28, Starbucks Korea held a "Reusable Cup Day" to give out drinks in a "grande" size cup featuring a special design.
지난 9월 28일 스타벅스코리아는 음료 주문 시 50주년 기념 특별 제작된 ‘그란데' 사이즈의 다회용 컵에 제공하는 ‘리유저블컵 데이' 행사를 진행했다.


The event was originally intended to deliver Starbucks' eco-friendly message on sustainability and get more people to drink coffee in reusable cups.
리유저블 컵 데이는 스타벅스의 지속 가능성 가치와 친환경 메시지를 전달하기 위해 고객들이 다회용 컵으로 커피를 마시도록 기획되었다.


Starbucks Korea limited drinks to 20 per person this time, thinking that not many people would actually purchase the maximum number of beverages.
스타벅스코리아는 이번에 많은 사람들이 최대 수량만큼 구매하지 않을 것으로 보고 한 사람당 음료 수를 20잔으로 구매를 제한했다.


However, resellers, who offer limited-edition Starbucks goods online for a higher price, showed up in a number of coffee shops in Seoul and ordered as many as they could to collect the reusable cups.
그러나 온라인에서 더 높은 가격에 한정판 스타벅스 굿즈를 제공하는 리셀러들이 서울 스타벅스 매장 여러 곳에 나타나 다회용 컵을 수집하기 위해 가능한 한 많이 주문했다.


This led other customers to wait for more than one hour to get their caffeinated beverages.
이로 인해 고객들은 주문한 음료를 가져가기 위해 한 시간 이상 기다려야했다.


"This is ridiculous. Next time, Starbucks should limit people from purchasing more than one drink at a time," said Lee Dan-bi, a 33-year-old office worker.
직장인 이단비 씨(33)는 "이건 말도 안 된다. 앞으로 스타벅스는 사람들이 한 번에 한 잔 이상 구매하는 것을 제한해야 한다"고 말했다.


This is not the first time that customers have been inconvenienced when Starbucks Korea offered special merchandise goods.
스타벅스코리아가 특별 상품을 제공할 때 고객들에게 불편을 끼친 것은 이번이 처음이 아니다.


Last year, one of the resellers purchased 300 cups of iced coffee to get 17 "Summer Ready Bags" and threw away all of the beverages.
지난해 리셀러들 중 한 명이 '썸머 레디백' 17개를 얻기 위해 아이스 커피 300잔을 구매한 후 그대로 버린 일이 있었다.


Back then, Starbucks required one person to order a total of 17 drinks, including several seasonal beverages, to receive a "Summer Ready Bag" or limited edition camping chair.
당시 스타벅스는 '썸머 레디백'이나 한정판 캠핑 의자를 받기 위해 고객 한 명이 한정판 음료를 포함해 총 17잔만 구매하도록 요구했다.
