Long-awaited winter festivals are arriving to help those who never think about going outside into the sweeping cold engage in and enjoy outdoor activities.
매서운 추위로 밖에 나갈 생각을 전혀 하지 않는 사람들이 야외 활동을 즐길 수 있게 만드는, 오랫동안 기다려온 겨울축제가 다가오고 있다.
They range from catching fish in icy water to viewing impressive ice sculptures to sledding to of course eating a variety of food coming from each region.
이러한 겨울 축제들은 얼음물에서 물고기를 잡는 것에서부터 멋진 얼음 조각품들을 감상하는 것, 썰매 타는 것, 그리고 당연히 각 지역의 다양한 음식을 먹는 것까지 다양하다.

Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival
화천 산천어 축제
The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival, scheduled to kick off on Saturday and run until Jan. 27, is regarded around the world as one of Korea's most famous seasonal festivals, if not the most. Sancheoneo is mountain trout in Korean.
토요일부터 1월 27일까지 열릴 예정인 화천 산천어 축제는 세계에서 가장 유명한 계절축제 중 하나로 꼽힌다. 산천어는 한국어로 산 송어다.
Launched in 2003, the fish festival has attracted more than 1.5 million visitors annually, including 110,000 foreigners, to the remote mountainous county in Gangwon Province that is a few kilometers south of the border with North Korea. It was even selected as one of the seven Winter Wonders of the World by CNN.
2003년에 시작된 이 축제는 매년 11만명의 외국인들을 포함해 총 150만 명 이상의 방문객들을 북한과의 국경에서 남쪽으로 불과 몇 킬로미터 떨어진 강원도 외딴 산악지대로 끌어모았다. 이 축제는 CNN으로부터 세계 7대 겨울 불가사의 중 하나로 선정되었다.

PyeongChang Trout Festival
평창 송어 축제
PyeongChang is the first region to farm trout in Korea, so its products are famous for its springy meat and high-quality taste.
평창은 한국에서 송어를 사육하는 첫 번째 지역이다. 그래서 평창 송어는 신선하고 고급스러운 맛으로 유명하다.
The annual PyeongChang Trout Festival launched its 12th edition on Dec. 22 that will run through Jan. 27 in Jinbu, PyeongChang County.
매년 열리는 평창 송어축제는 12월 22일 평창군 진부면에서 제12회 축제를 시작했고, 1월 27일까지 계속될 예정이다.
