Japan's meteorological agency issued a tsunami advisory on Saturday, after a strong 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the northeastern coast.
일본기상청(JMA)은 토요일 북동부 해안에서 규모 7.2의 강진이 발생한 후 쓰나미 주의보를 발령했다.
The quake hit at 6:09 pm (0909 GMT) in Pacific waters off Miyagi region with a depth of 60 kilometers (37 miles), the JMA said, issuing an advisory for tsunami waves of around one meter.
일본기상청에 따르면 지진은 오후 6시 9분께 미야기현 인근 태평양 해상에서 발생한 것으로 진원의 깊이는 60km이며, 1m 안팎의 쓰나미 파도에 대한 주의보가 발령됐다.
There was no immediate reports of damage from Miyagi, and local utilities were inspecting the status of the region's nuclear plants, according to local media.
현지 언론에 따르면 미야기현의 피해 소식은 즉각 보도되지 않았고, 현지 전력회사들이 이 지역 원전 현황을 점검하고 있었다.
The US Geological Service put the strength of the quake at 7.0-magnitude.
