The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) has launched a global video art streaming platform, "Watch and Chill," developed in partnership with three other Asian art museums, Tuesday.

"Watch and Chill" is a subscription-based streaming service featuring a total of 22 video works selected from the collections of the MMCA, the M+ in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong, the MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum in Thailand, and the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) in the Philippines. The project, borne from the collaboration of the curators of these four art institutions, aims to present a new approach to exploring and sharing art among museums, artists and viewers in the digital, contactless era.

The featured media works are divided into four sections — "Things in My Living Room," "By the Other Being," "Community of Houses" and "Meta-Home" — all in connection to the reimagined role of "home" and lifestyle amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The streaming service will release one video per section each week, along with text pieces written by poets, authors and critics detailing their own personal experiences as they work with the online platform. All videos are accompanied by English and Korean subtitles. Some of the notable sections include: "Things in My Living Room," which presents different arrangements of everyday household items to explore the changing relationship between these objects and their human users during the pandemic; and "Meta-Home," which examines the theme of hyper-connectivity and its impact on our existence in the virtual and physical worlds.
