Samsung chairman's sister dies at 90

The elder sister of Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee, Lee In-hee, died on Wednesday aged 90.

She had served as an adviser to Hansol Group, once part of the Samsung Group.

Lee ― born in 1929 in Uiryeong, South Gyeongsang Province ― was the first-born child of Samsung Group founder Lee Byung-chull who had four sons and six daughters.

She married Cho Woon-hae, former chairman of Kangbuk Samsung Hospital, in 1948 and had five children ― three sons and two daughters.

She contributed much to Samsung's growth in the 1970-80s and to Hansol in the 1990s. Her third son, Dong-gil, leads Hansol.

Lee co-founded the Dooeul Scholarship Foundation to support talented Korean women

She is survived by her five children.

Her funeral is scheduled for Feb. 1 at Samsung Medical Center.
