Korea will spend 98.3 billion won ($66.9 million) on marketing support for local businesses in the export market this year to help them continue their export momentum amid global trade uncertainties, the industry ministry said Tuesday.

The support will be provided to some 7,800 companies entering overseas exhibits across the world, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Last year, Korean companies struck a combined $3.4 billion worth of export deals by attending 139 technology exhibitions, together with the government, the ministry said.

In 2025, the government plans to showcase Korean companies' technologies and cultural content at a monthslong international tech show in Osaka, set to kick off next month, and hold an export conference on the sidelines of the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju, about 275 kilometers southeast of Seoul, in October.

The government will also hold K-Expo events, aimed at showcasing the Korean food, beauty, content, lifestyle and tech industries, at six locations this year — New York, Toronto, Dubai, Madrid, Phnom Penh and Almaty. (Yonhap)
