Launched in 2016, the AIA Championship features teams made of employees from AIA headquarters as well as branches worldwide to serve the group’s principle of “Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.”
The 2024 edition of the championship took place in London, attracting 184 players and coaches from 12 countries.
Team AIA Korea had 14 players — seven men and seven women.
“The 14 players enjoy sports and are physically active, and they were grateful for being able to spend time on the hobby under AIA’s worldwide campaign for employees,” AIA Korea said. “By competing on the field, they took part in the group’s pursuance of physical and mental well-being.”
In addition to the championship, the participants watched a Tottenham Hotspur match. AIA Group has been the Global Principal Partner of the Premier League team, in an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle through sports.
The team is popular in Korea for its Korean winger Son Heung-min.
The participants also watched the Women’s FA Cup final match, in which Tottenham Hotspur's women squad competed.
“The football matches are believed to have refreshed AIA Group’s corporate culture that encompasses gender, age and country of origin, among others,” AIA Korea said.
“We’ll continue to faithfully hold the group’s principle for our employees to work in enhanced unity and to help our customers live ‘Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.'"
