Insurance companies are rushing to introduce digital business cards using artificial intelligence (AI), in a bid to build trust between financial planners and clients more effectively.

ABL Life Insurance said Friday it opened a beta service for its AI-based business card in partnership with Seoul-based company DeepBrain AI.

With its Dream Avatar program, the AI developer creates a facial image of a financial planner and also converts texts written by the planner in advance, such as a self-introduction and promotion of products, into speech.

The relevant information will be saved on the planner’s digital business card, which clients can access by computer or smartphone to see the virtually created image speak.

“We expect the new form of business card will help planners in managing clients efficiently,” ABL Life Insurance said.

From the non-life insurance sector, KB Insurance has been running a beta service for an AI-based business card since March.

The service is also made available in partnership with DeepBrain AI.

The service has been running for two months, collecting feedback from 300 selected customers before issuing the cards to the firm’s entire employee base, including executives and staffers.

KB Insurance said its business card is noteworthy for automatically delivering messages to customers on their birthdays and other occasions.

“We are optimistic about expanding AI in other promotional activities,” KB Insurance said.

It said 95.7 percent of its employees were positive about using AI-based business cards in a recent survey.

Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, DB Insurance and other insurers said they are also interested in such cards.
