The Korea Times is pleased to announce the winners of the 8th English Economic Essay Contest for University Students on a subject related to Korean banks’ customer services.

The Grand Awards go to Kim Jin-hoo of Pusan National University, the winner from the Korean entries, and Ivo Spanjersberg of Jeju National University from the international ones. Kim will be provided with a round-trip ticket from Seoul to Los Angeles, and Spanjersberg from the Netherlands will receive a round-trip ticket from Amsterdam to Seoul.

There is only one second-place prize winner: Subedi Prasad Netra, a Nepali student at Ajou University. The prize is a laptop computer.

The Commendation Awards winners are Min Kyung-min, an undergraduate student at Inha University; Patrick Lauchang, an international student at Korea National University of Arts; and Dang Viet Thai, a female student at Yonsei University. Each of them will be given a round-trip ticket from Seoul to Jeju.

Their entries will be published in October ahead of the 62nd anniversary of The Korea Times that falls on Nov. 1. All winners will be individually contacted for information regarding the award ceremony that is scheduled to be held in early November. The Korea Times expresses special thanks to all applicants and Woori Bank, the sponsor of the essay contest.
