Actor Jung Woo shared his latest project, JTBC's new fantasy series “Miraculous Brothers,” which will feature a relatable character who radiates positive energy to the viewers.

The mystery drama, which kicked off on Wednesday revolves around Yook Dong-Ju (played by Jung Woo), an aspiring author who has struggled for seven years to make his debut as a best-selling writer. Despite his ambition, he has faced continuous failures in his career.

One day, Dong-Ju accidentally hits Kang San (played by Bae Hyun-sung), a mysterious boy, with his car. Kang loses his memory after the accident but gains a special ability to read people's minds. Ironically, this ability doesn't work on Dong-Ju, leading to a special bond between them where Kang finds solace and comfort in Dong-Ju.

“Dong-Ju is a character who only has debt but strives to live life to the fullest,” Jung said during an online press conference for the series. “He can't find hope but he's passionate about his life. He has been failing to debut as an author for seven years but he doesn't quit dreaming nor lose positive energy. And people will be able to relate to this side of him.”

“That's how realistic and charming this character is. He's serious but, sometimes, is funny and quirky. He has sympathy and compassion.”

The actor said he fell in love with the story, expressing it felt like fate.

“I read through the script twice. It was a killer writing with such a well-woven story … I followed the story from Dong-ju's perspective but each character was perfectly convincing. I was impressed with (the script's) perfection and during the shooting, we made such synergy like we were meant to be,” he said.

This is the 11th series is director Park Chan-hong and scriptwriter Kim Ji-woo joined hands. The two previously worked together on series like the 2019 drama series “Beautiful World” and the 2016 melodrama series “Memory.”

The director said he wanted the series to depict miraculous moments in people's lives.

“In my previous works, I touched on social issues that occurred in real life. So the themes were darker … this time, I wanted to come up with a lighter approach,” he said. “There are times when you hope for a miracle along the life. When you are put in absurd situations for incomprehensible reasons, you hope for a miracle. I tried to capture that moment to make it into this series.”

Jung expressed immense satisfaction in working with the director.

“It has been an honor to work with Director Park. On the set, he has this energy and leadership that comes from his age. I felt his super-strength that allows you to give 200 percent,” he said. “I thought to myself that I made the right decision to join this work and was excited to work with fellow co-stars … I feel lucky to take part. I've been acting for 20 years and I feel that this series will act as the pillar in my life.”

“Miraculous Brothers" airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 p.m.
