High-profile K-pop stars including Le Sserafim will roll out new songs for the upcoming animated film, "Bastions." This is the first time that a homegrown 3D animated superhero movie has collaborated with K-pop.
In addition to Le Sserafim, Brave Girls, Heize, AleXa, Seo J, Kang Min-seo and P. Cassady will release tracks to be featured in "Bastions," a film about environmental pollution. Brave Girls' upcoming song will be their last official release as a group. All four members ― Minyoung, Yujeong, Eunji and Yuna ― terminated their contracts with their management company, Brave Entertainment, in February.
According to the production company of "Bastions," Thymos Media, more details about the tunes, including their titles and release dates, will be unveiled later.
The animated film revolves around a group of superheroes called, "Bastions," which strives to protect the Earth from villains polluting it.
Thymos Media explained that "Bastions" intends to exert a positive influence on people by touching on the theme of the environment.
"The collaboration with K-pop artists will help raise the global audience's awareness of environmental issues," the company said in a statement. "K-pop singers decided to join hands with us as they found our message relatable."
Cho Bum-jin, who was behind the success of the 2006 animated movie, "Aachi & Ssipak" will make "Bastions" with other acclaimed creators including writer Jang Hye-rin.
"Aachi & Ssipak" is an animated comic science fiction film featuring the voices of actors Ryoo Seung-bum, Im Chang-jung and Hyun Young, which is set in a post-apocalyptic dystopia where human excrement is used as fuel. It won best animated feature at the prestigious SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia in 2007.
"'Bastions' will capture the quintessence of Korean animated films," Thymos Media said. "It will bring to the fore eye-catching 3D visual experience, thrilling stories, sincere messages and music from globally popular K-pop stars."
