Coca-Cola says it will cut 1,200 jobs to counter the industry's weak growth outlook.
The layoffs at the world's biggest beverages company come after customers are switching to healthier and sugar-free drinks.
Coca-Cola's sales have dropped 11 percent and profit 20 percent from a year ago.
The soda giant employees more than 100,000 people worldwide and the sackings will potentially help the company save up to $800 million.
The company said the layoffs will be spread around the world.
"While these necessary changes are always very difficult, they will help us do fewer things better to lead and support our operating units," incoming CEO James Quincey told Fortune, a U.S. business magazine.
He said the company is pushing more into healthier beverages like water, milk and soy-based drinks.
