A sincere apology from a Korean airline captain that calmed upset passengers is being cited as an example of how United Airlines could have behaved instead of the incident in which a doctor was violently removed from an overbooked flight on Apr. 10.
An Air Busan plane, which was set to leave Jeju Island for Gimpo on Apr. 19, was delayed for an hour without any notice.
Passengers on the plane started to vent their dissatisfaction.
But soon after the aircraft departed, the captain delivered a sincere apology, which soothed the anger.
"It took longer than expected as we had to accommodate a total of 220 passengers," the captain explained.
"I apologize as the captain in charge of the plane. Our aircraft is going at its maximum speed to reach our destination in time."
The captain also apologized on behalf of the crew.
"Please treat them kindly," he said.
