Intel introduced a new central processing unit (CPU) chip offering improved performance to meet the needs of gamers and content creators requiring fast data processing, its Korean unit said Wednesday.
The 13th generation Intel Core i9-13900K "is the fastest CPU in the world," Lee Ju-seok, vice president of Intel Korea, said during a press conference in Yeouido, Seoul. "The Intel Core i9-13900K will once again improve CPU standard for PCs, which Intel has led so far. With the new product, we believe that we will continue to lead the industry," he added.
Intel Korea said the new product will be shipped in three weeks and consumers will be able to meet various models in latest CPU lineup from November.
The latest CPU for use in servers, laptops and desktop PCs, has 24 cores with up to 5.8-gigahertz of speed, which is 600-megahertz faster than the 12th generation CPU.
William Choi, CCG sales specialist at Intel Korea, said, "People using PCs equipped with our new CPU will be able to have the best gaming experience in the world."
He added, "The new CPU has faster core performance and users can play games, enjoy streaming and video recording much faster at the same time. The new product also helps users create their content faster and can deliver unrivaled overclocking so that users ranging from beginners to professionals can have the best PC experience," Choi elaborated.
The new CPU also has better flexibility as it supports both DDR4 and DDR5 DRAM memory chips.
"DDR5, a newer DRAM memory chip, was released only a few years ago. The price difference between DDR4 and DDR5 is still large and it will take about two more years for the prices between the two products to become similar. To give consumers more choice, the 13th generation CPU supports both DRAMs," Choi added.
