America, please show Russia you're the energy alpha now
Two recent events have been incredibly troublesome but have finally brought home the energy and climate crises that are plaguing the planet. Russia's unprovoked attack on Ukraine has exposed two follies: Europe's deep dependence on Russia for oil and natural gas and U.S. imports of Russian oil.

As Putin commits war crimes, how does his war on Ukraine end?
As Putin commits war crimes, how does his war on Ukraine end?
The deliberate Russian bombing of a Mariupol drama theater, where hundreds of women and children were sheltering, is a grim sign of where Vladimir Putin's war on Ukraine is headed. A Russian pilot bombed the theater even though the word children was written in huge Russian letters on plazas in front and back of the theater, clearly visible from the air.

How to lead with diplomacy, and not just in Ukraine
President Joe Biden and his top foreign policy advisers have demonstrated how effective diplomacy can be in a crisis. They have worked tirelessly to build a powerful, coordinated response to Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine. Though this has not yet ended the war, it has greatly increased the cost to Putin.

Best way to stop China from aiding Russia is for US to help Ukraine
Best way to stop China from aiding Russia is for US to help Ukraine
The Biden administration hoped it could focus on China and not worry about Russia. But the war in Ukraine has proved this was a fantasy as China considers sending military and economic aid to Russia.

International Criminal Court matters. Can Ukraine make us see that?
Two years ago, the U.S. government treated the International Criminal Court like an enemy of the state. Now, the ICC may be the only way to ensure justice for Russia's war crimes.

Why so many countries want to sit out new cold war
“Democracies are rising to the moment,” U.S. President Joe Biden said in his State of the Union address, as Russian President Vladimir Putin unleashed his vicious war on Ukraine. Francis Fukuyama leads a band of commentators claiming that the “spirit of 1989” is back and we are about to witness globally a “new birth of freedom.”
