The Daegu organizing committee has been hard at work to provide the best circumstances for the participants who will gather in the southern Korean city from Aug. 27 to Sept. 4.
Among their efforts, one of the most eye-catching is the provision of the Athletes’ Village.
Korea will become the first host nation to offer an Athletes’ Village in IAAF World Championships history.
Previously, host cities have used hotels or university dormitories.
It is only seven minutes away from the main stadium by car and it is adjacent to a training area that includes an eight-lane, 400-meter track and many of the different track and field events can be practiced simultaneously.
For the 3,500 athletes and related officials, the committee has also installed convenient facilities.
A free wireless internet service is available in all the rooms that will be shared by five to seven people.
The athletes can relax in the DVD room, bar and shopping center as well as maintain their fitness levels at the gym or unwind in the sauna.
“To provide perfect circumstances we will put in maximum efforts until the event ends,” an organizing committee official said.
There is also a media village but not all reporters will be able to stay there.
