This is in response to an Aug. 13-14 article, “Save Jeju, save peace.”
The article stated incorrectly that the RAND Corporation considers having a naval base on Jeju Island to be of crucial importance for the United States.
RAND has made no such assertion. The 2009 report cited in the article was actually a 2011 dissertation that discussed the importance of the base to South Korea, not the United States.
