Female employee attacks Korean man in McDonald's

A U.S. law firm has acquired video footage showing a female McDonald’s employee beating a Korean man in his 60s with a broomstick and refusing to serve him.

In the closed circuit video feed, the woman behind the counter yells at the man waiting in line. He then begins to record the incident with his mobile phone. The woman charges at him and hits him with a broomstick while he tries to defend himself.

The incident was filmed in New York City at about 5 p.m. on Feb. 16.

James Jin Kim, 62, the man in the video, hired New York-based law firm Kim & Bae in April and sued the fast food chain for $10 million for verbal and physical abuse, online news outlets reported on Tuesday.

Kim reportedly claimed the woman refused to take his order. When he complained she allegedly told him the restaurant “did not serve people like you.”

Attorney Christina Bae, who represents Kim, said the employee’s comment would show that Kim was a victim of discrimination.
