LG Electronics has released the latest version of its popular VM8000 washing machine in the United States.
The firm announced Thursday that it launched the front-loader to further tap into the American market.
The machine boasts a drum capacity of 21 kilograms (5.1 cubic feet), a 19 percent increase from the previous model’s 19 kilograms (4.3 cubic feet). The company says that it is capable of washing the covers for a king sized bed in just one load.
The washing machine also drastically decreases washing time using a new turbo wash capability that finishes washing and drying within 30 minutes. The standard time of another machine equivalent in size is 59 minutes, according to LG.
Despite its size, the VM8000 was chosen as the “most efficient” product in energy conservation this year by the Environmental Protection Agency.
It has the world’s first six-motion washing capability that shakes, caresses and squeezes clothes for maximum washing efficiency. Other diverse options are available to meet the demands of different clothes depending on quantity and material.
“(The VM8000) is an innovative product that has the world’s greatest washing capacity and in a shorter time,” said Jo Seong-jin, head of the company’s washing machine division. “We will continue to maintain our brand image as No. 1 globally (in washing machines) with our world class technology.”
