
Cultural property: Korea’s first newspaper The Independent, published in Korean in 1896 by activist and doctor Seo Jae-pil (1864-1951), is to be registered as a cultural property along with five other newspapers and two magazines including the Hanseong Sunbo, the nation’s first modern newspaper published in Chinese in 1883, according to the Cultural Heritage Administration, Monday.
