Super Junior, one of Korea’s most popular boy bands, set a record on Taiwan’s music chart by securing the No. 1 spot for 100 consecutive weeks with their latest two singles.

“Mr. Simple,” from their fifth album by the same name, dominated the Korean Music Top 100 Chart on the online Taiwanese music site KKBOX and finished the month of April at No. 1 for the 37th week.

The reign started last August, when it replaced previous hit “Bonamana.” The title track of the 12-member band’s fourth album held the top spot for a record-breaking 63 weeks from June 2010.

Super Junior comprising of 13 members, was the biggest of any groups in Korea when they made their debut in 2005 with SM Entertainment, the country’s largest talent agency.

Since then the boy band has survived numerous run-ins with the law and personal issues that required changing the line-up a few times.

Despite this they have become one of the bestselling K-pop groups in musical history.

International success has spawned a subgroup geared towards Mandarin pop, or Mandopop, audiences called Super Junior-M.
