Dancing in the street
By Agnes Yu A consortium of venues that open up along Gyeongnidan, the road leading up to the Grand Hyatt hotel between Namsan tunnel No. 3 and Noksapyeong subway station, have organized a special event of music, meandering and merriment. Project Kyungnidan (Gyeongnidan) Summer Edition will take place this Saturday at Noxa, Blue Beer, J Lounge and Carmen with a 5, 000 won cover at one venue that will allow entry into all four ― similar to Club Day in the Hongdae area. Each bar will have a specially prepared line-up of talented DJs spinning the beats as guests take advantage of the special respective drink menus available that evening. With a modern and minimalist interior, Noxa will get everyone jumpstarted with free promotional shots served by hostesses in themed outfits. Hosts Nev Willart and Joseph Kim will welcome the crowds. The three female spinners, Analog from the U.S., Baya from the U.K. and Venus from OZ, will be a delight to both listen to and watch as they provide the surround sound of soul, disco and house tunes. Move to Blue Beer where dapperly dressed wait staff will serve up a tasty selection of drinks while such djs like Yann Cavallier from France, dj Stuff from the ROK and Eugene Blake from the U.K. will play electro and house music. Climb further uphill to J LOUNGE, the largest venue of the lot will hip-hop and live looping by Koreans dj YTST and dj ANDOW along with Americans dj Judonomi and dj Black Ilumin. Next door at Carmen, an artsy and intimate spot with zero pretense Canadian dj Oilcan Boyd, American dj Dante Threats and dj FENNER from the U.K. will spin hip hop, retro and classy Drum'n'Bass.
