Rock singer Jun In-kwon was arrested on suspicion of drug use Wednesday, after he arrived at Incheon International Airport.
Jun was being investigated on drug use, when he fled to the Philippines last March 29 to evade arrest. The court issued a warrant for his arrest April 2, but it was too late. Gangwon Province police's drug and criminal investigation unit has been conducting an investigation into Jun's alleged drug use since last year.
Jun was found to have accumulated a large amount of prescription drugs from 22 different hospitals around the country. He had received a total of 922 days worth of prescription painkillers in just one year. He was also suspected of illegally distributing these painkillers to his friends.
Police said Jun claimed he had received so many painkillers because he had a chronic illness.
Jun also tested positive for drug use. The police said a test on Jun's hair strand showed the singer had taken drugs for at least a year. It revealed Jun had taken the drug Philopon, an amphetamine-like stimulant.
Jun, who is known for his wild hair and dark sunglasses, looked unkempt and bedraggled at the time of his arrest Wednesday.
The 53-year old singer released his first album in 1988, and followed it up with albums in 1991 and 2003. Jun's latest album ``People Do Not Fight Against Jun In-kwon'' was released in December 2004.
