The Tongil Foundation said Monday that its board appointed Korea Cultural Foundation Chairman Park No-hee as the foundation’s new head, Sunday, replacing Moon Kook-jin, the fourth son of its founder the late Moon Sun-myung.

The foundation of the Unification Church said its board members decided to fire Moon due to the failure to win a 2.3 trillion won lawsuit over a development project in Yeouido, Seoul.

“Park will lead the foundation, which supports the Unification Church and manages the businesses of the Tongil Group,” said a spokesman of the foundation.

Park, 72, is the younger brother of Park Bo-hee, a former key aide to the late founder.

Moon was reportedly ousted by losing a power game to his mother Han Hak-ja. He said in a statement that he decided to obey her mother’s decision and will stay in the United States.
