Dear editor:

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states in Article 26 solemnly the right of parents to educate their own children.

There is a close relationship between procreation and education, to the point that education is considered an extension or complement to procreation.

The right of parents to educate their children is rooted in human nature, so that the right to educate and be educated do not just depend on the fact that they are expressly included in a formal law. They are primary rights in the harder sense of the term. Therefore, an attack on the right of parents is, in short, an attack on the rights that children have.

Family is, therefore, the natural place to develop more intensely love relationships, service and mutual giving, making up the most intimate part of the human person.

Thus, the education of children is a primary paternal and maternal function, so that any other educating agent is delegated by the parents. Consequently, school should be seen as an institution that is required to provide a close partnership with parents in the transcendental work of educating kids.
