A Hampyeong Golf High School senior who urinated in the mouth of a boy deeply apologized about the whole incident, the attacked boy’s father told The Korea Times.
“The boy and his father came to us, and they were on their knees apologizing, crying, and hitting heads on the ground in front of many people,” Lee, the attacked boy’s father, said.
The psychological damage is done, but he said he felt the boy’s regret.
“The treatment for the trauma for my son takes time and money. But I feel sorry for the attacker too.”
They had settled earlier to 5 million won in compensation not knowing the urine-related incident, and they are still taking the money. He said he will spend it on his son’s treatment.
Earlier, the school decided to expel and suspend the bullying students.
The committee meeting was held at the school not at the Education Office as previously reported.
“I’ve decided to sign the agreement and forgive them. All the people concerned including the school principals and other teachers cordially asked me to forgive,” the father said over the phone.
The incident shocked people as it came at a time when the government has been stepping up campaign against the so-called four social evils – school violence, domestic violence, sexual offenses and unhealthy food.
“At first, I attempted to seek the harshest punishment against the perpetrators. But I decided to change my mind to see the father of the boy fall to the ground to desperately call for my generosity,” Lee said.
Lee gave a tip on the school violence to The Korea Times first and the paper obtained confirmation from the school and officials from the North Jeolla Province Education Office.
The case created a stir after the paper promptly reported it.
