A police officer said Tuesday he can still vividly remember the death of a child who died of shock 11 years ago after suffering from serious burns.

The officer, who has served as a crime scene investigator for the past eight years, recalled that the child’s parents shed tears beside their dead child.

He said on condition of anonymity: “I’m surprised and shocked that I can remember vividly the scene of the child’s death which occurred more than a decade ago. I have frequently had nightmares about it since then.”

“Whenever I went to bed, the shadow of the deceased child floated in my memory and I broke out into a cold sweat.”

Another police officer, who has worked as a crime scene investigator for the past 11 years, said he has felt afraid of approaching any death scene since he saw a situation in which a woman, suffering from postpartum depression, killed her child and extracted organs from the body.

Regardless of seniority, most crime scene investigators are plagued by disturbing memories of tragic deaths.

They have to examine the remains of deceased people and search for evidence in order to establish exact causes of death.
