Turtle Marathon on Sunday
Yoo Jeong-bok, minister of agriculture, will lead the event, alongside the 2010 Miss Korea and runners-up and contestants of Mr. World Korea. Organized by The Korea Times’ sister company, the Hankook Ilbo, the Turtle Marathon has been held once a month since 1978. Unlike an ordinary marathon, the Turtle Marathon invites participants to take a slow, leisurely walk, taking in the morning air and scenic surroundings. After the walk, comedian Lee Sang-yong will host a closing show. Various events will be held at the outdoor plaza of the National Theater of Korea, including free tasting sessions and exhibitions. Nongshim will offer drinks, while Orion will give out Choco Pies to participants. There will also be a raffle event for prizes such as bicycles, gift certificates, health beverage Damina 909 (Glamy), cosmetics (Logona Korea), meal coupons (The Buffet), earrings (Mucha Jewelry), movie tickets (Interpark), toilet paper (Mona Lisa) rice (NH Card) chairs (Duoback Korea )and sneakers (Prospecs W). Certification for two hours of volunteer work will be given to middle and high school students who participate in the clean-up session. The Turtle Marathon is free.
