Fight erupts between Suwon murderer, drug offender
The murderer, Oh Won-chun and the drug offender, surnamed Lee, fought on a bus heading to the Suwon District Court, 2km from Suwon Detention Center in Gyeonggi Province around 1:50 p.m. on June 22.
The fight began when Lee, 45, got furious at Oh, 42, for giggling at female passers-by through a car window.
On April 2, Oh killed a woman in her 20s after kidnapping her on her way home in Ju-dong, Suwon. He cut the body into 280 pieces and threw them into 14 plastic bags. He was sentenced to death on June 15 for the crime.
A week later, Oh was being transported to answer further questions on why he killed the woman. Ever since he was imprisoned, he was kept in solitary confinement, preventing him from contact with other prisoners. But he was with about 20 others prisoners on the bus when the fight took place.
Oh was sitting on the very back seat on the right, while Lee was sitting in front of him on the opposite side. While watching Oh carefully, Lee said, "Are you Oh Won-chun? Stop shaking your leg and think of things you've done wrong," and kicked him. Oh stood up and ran into Lee. But the fight didn't get bigger as guards stopped it.
In the investigation after the incident, Lee said, "I'm a criminal, but I was so mad when Oh was giggling at female passers-by and shaking his left leg." Fights between prisoners are subjected to punishment but the detention center gave disciplinary action as Oh said "I didn't get hit."
Meanwhile, Lee stated, "Other prisoners were tied individually with handcuffs and rope, then tied up again with one another, but Oh wasn't. Isn't it wrong that a murderer ran into another prisoner on the bus?"
But a detention center official responded, "Oh was being watched by a guard and it was a petty fight."
