A 33-year-old man suspected of raping and murdering a teenage girl in Busan began to confess to his crime Sunday afternoon, police said.
“Kim Kil-tae began to confess to his crime, saying the girl was dead when he recovered consciousness," an investigator said. Kim had lost consciousness due to alcohol intoxication.
Since his arrest on March 10, Kim had denied charges against him, despite the fact police told him they had found his DNA in samples taken from the victim's body.
The suspect appears to have changed his mind after being grilled Sunday by investigators using a lie detector, police officials said.
Kim’s arrest came four days after the 13-year-old was found dead in a water tank near her home.
