A high school student in Busan, who had been missing for more than a month, was found dead on a shore in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province, last Sunday.
The identification of the remains of the 17-year-old Lee Yong-woo, who had been reported missing since Aug. 22, was due to the fact that the body was severely decomposed. Lee's family members confirmed the remains were Lee's. His body was found with some of his belongings that convinced the family that it was Lee's body. However, police plans to conduct a DNA comparison to make a positive ID and determine the exact cause of death.
The deceased high school student's disappearance caught the public attention when his sister posted an online missing leaflet.
Lee was confirmed to have bought a ticket for a ferry trip to Jeju Island after he disappeared but his erstwhile whereabouts were not known.
