was chosen as the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year Thursday, at the 2013 Canadian International Auto Show currently being held in Toronto.
The model was the third of Hyundai’s vehicles to be selected as a Canadian Car of the Year, following its Genesis luxury sedan in 2009 and Avante compact car in 2012.
This year, both the i30 and Santa Fe were nominated for the family car and SUV category respectively, making Hyundai Motor the only company with two models on the final list of candidates for the two categories.
The Automobile Journalists’ Association of Canada annually selects the best car for 11 categories on the basis of style, quality, performance, fuel efficiency and safety of new cars launched in the country.

, a cash-strapped South Korean builder, said Thursday that it posted a net loss of 411.4 billion won ($368 million) last year.
The net loss more than doubled from 2011 when it posted a net loss of 157 billion won, as the builder disposed of unsold apartments at discount prices amid the country’s protracted housing market slump.
The loss has impaired the builder’s capital worth 148.8 billion won as of December, meaning that it cannot pay its debt even if it sells its assets.
The Korea Exchange (KRX), the country’s stock market operator, suspended trading of Ssangyong E&C’s shares Feb. 8, citing the builder’s failure to address capital erosion.
