The Korea Visit Committee, jointly with seven provincial governments, resumed operation of a "K-shuttle" service, Sunday, for foreigners to visit major tourist destinations by bus.
The "K-shuttle" is a foreigner-only bus tour with two programs touring the southwestern and the southeastern parts of the country. It directly connects to major tourist hotspots to reduce the time it takes to move from place to place.
"It is designed to provide foreigners with chances to enjoy Korea's many cultural artifacts and natural formations via a course structure that takes them to prominent hotspots around the nation," a committee official said.
For the southwest tour, the bus departs at 8:30 a.m. from in front of the Donghwa Duty Free store at Gwanghwamun on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, bound for Buyeo, Jeonju, Yeosu, Suncheon and Busan, before returning to Seoul.
On southeast tour A program, the bus leaves Seoul on Tuesdays for Busan, before visiting Gyeongju, Andong, Wonju, Gangneung and PyeongChang, then returning to Seoul. The southeast B program departs every Saturday from Seoul for PyeongChang, Gangneung, Wonju, Andong and Gyeongju, then back to Seoul.
The price of the package is 290,000 won ($260) including the bus, two days stay in tourist hotels, two breakfasts, and entrance fees to tourist destinations.
Those who wish to travel independently can use part of the shuttle service by getting off where they want.
The service offers translators who speak English, Chinese and Japanese. The "K-shuttle'' first began in 2010 with the launch of the "2010-2012 Visit Korea Year."
Each provincial government is poised to extend hospitality to passengers in conjunction with tourism-related firms and facilities.
Busan City, for instance, is planning to provide guests with discounted prices on accommodation and food.
"They can visit cities where traditions are kept alive, like Buyeo, Jeonju, Gyeongju and Gangneung, as well as Korea's biggest port city of Busan. They can also stop at Yeosu where the 2012 Expo was held and PyeongChang, where the 2018 Winter Olympics will take place," the official said.
