Hey Obama! Help me fire an officer!:drunken actress
By Cecilia Park
Hollywood actress Amanda Bynes, 26, pleaded for President Obama’s help in her drinking under the influence (DUI) case. She twitted “Hey@BarackObama... I don’t drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don’t hit and run. The end,” according to the Los Angeles Times. On June 6, she was arrested for DUI after striking an LA police car and refusing to take a sobriety test. However, Rick Brynes said his daughter wasn’t drunk and the police misinterpreted Amanda’s “upset and very emotional” action as drunken behavior. It is questionable if the president will help Bynes. Although the president has defended Henry Louis Gates Jr., a black Harvard professor, in a racially charged incident in 2009, the case was about federal convictions not DUI charges. Also, they were close friends. Bynes entered a plea of “not guilty” to driving under the influence on Wednesday, said gossip website TMZ. If she is convicted, she will be in custody for 48 hours, put on probation for three years, and get her license suspended for one year. Additionally, she will be required to take an alcohol education program for nine months. Her next court is set for July 18. |
