Kia announces details for new luxury sedan
By Kim Tae-jong Kia Motors Sunday unveiled major features and technical details of its new premium sedan, K9, adding to the buildup for its official launch scheduled for the first half of the year. The move came after the automaker first revealed the exterior design of the luxury sedan last month. Some of the advanced features include a head-up display (HUD), which projects key information such as speed and warning signals onto the windshield so that drivers do not need to look at the car’s instrumentation. The K9 will be the first Korean vehicle with a HUD. Another key feature is its high-tech LED headlamps, which move or optimize the headlight beam in response to vehicular steering and suspension dynamics. “With its state-of-art features as well as superb design, K9 will differentiate itself from other luxury sedans,” a Kia official said. The K9 is the latest upgrade touted by Kia Motors in the series of K7 and K5 sedans, which will compete with Hyundai Motor’s Equus and Genesis sedans, the official said. The new sedan is 5.09 meters in length, 1.9 meters in width and 1.49 meters in height with a 300 horsepower 3.3 liter GDI engine. |
