After North Korea unexpectedly released Americans Kenneth Bae and Matthew Miller, the world is wondering what is next for the communist dictatorship in terms of international relations and the human rights allegations leveled at the Kim Jong-un regime.
The latest episode of the Asia News Weekly on Korea Times podcast explores the release of Bae and Miller, and what it means for North Korea.
Host Steve Miller is joined by Joanna Hosaniak, deputy director general of the Citizens' Alliance for North Korean Human Rights to discuss the issue. Hosaniak talks about whether the release, and more importantly, if the action will changes the hearts and minds of U.N. General Assembly members scheduled to take a vote on referring North Korea to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to stand trial for crimes against humanity.
Miller also discusses highlights from APEC and whether the time come to clear the streets in Hong Kong. These stories and more are on the November 14th edition of Asia News Weekly on The Korea Times.
