Asia has its latest, bizarre viral hit

A Chinese music video that has drawn comparisons to Psy's "Gangnam Style" because of its bizarre imagery is racking up views on YouTube.

"Chick Chick," by Wang Rong, which the Daily Beast dubbed "Gangnam Style on MDMA," had garnered nearly 5 million YouTube views after being uploaded on Oct. 22. MDMA, also known as ecstasy, is a euphoria-inducing drug.

While the comparisons to Psy's viral hit are understandable given the Korean rapper's off-beat sense of humor, Chick Chick takes the bizarreness to the next level.

The video is populated with dancers dressed in chicken-like tutus strutting around and shaking their hind feathers. Animated animals including a bird in a bikini join the chaos.

The YouTube description of the song says calls Chick Chick "experimental" and subversive to conceptions of popular music, Daily Beast reports.

중국 가수 왕룽의 ‘샤오지샤오지(병아리병아지)’ 뮤직비디오가 큰 인기를 끌며 연이어 조회수를 기록하고 있다.

왕룽은 지난달 22일 유투브에 해당 뮤직비디오를 공개했으며, 17일 현재 해당 영상은 거의 500만 뷰를 기록하고 있다.

몇 매체는 이 영상을 두고 ‘중국판 강남스타일,’ ‘마약한 강남스타일’이라 부르는 등 각종 수식어를 덧붙이고 있다.

싸이의 ‘강남스타일’ 히트가 가수 싸이의 유머감각에서 비롯됐다면, 왕룽의 ‘샤오지샤오지’는 괴상한 목소리로 동물 소리를 내고 비키니를 입은 새를 등장시키는 등 한층 더 ‘4차원’에 가까워졌다.

본 영상의 유부트 설명에는 ‘실험적인 영상’이며 ‘대중음악의 판도를 거스르는 음악’이라고 덧붙여져 있다.
