Teacher snaps rabbit's neck, shocking students

A high school science teacher in Idaho is in hot water after snapping a rabbit's neck and skinning the animal in front of the class.

"A teacher brought in a rabbit, and did a demonstration about how a rabbit would be prepared as food for a family," Nampa School District spokeswoman Allison Westfall said, according to KTVB.

Westfall added that the demonstration was not part of the biology curriculum.

The teacher put the rabbit into a restraining device before snapping its neck, KTVB reported, citing Westfall.
Students were reportedly warned about the demonstration and given a chance to leave the room.

Still, some who stayed were disturbed by the killing and some parents called later to express their displeasure.

The teacher, whose name has not been released, is now facing disciplinary action, the report said. The school district did not elaborate about whether the educator had been suspended.

미국의 한 고등학교 과학 선생님이 수업 도중 학생들 앞에서 토끼의 목을 부러뜨리고 털을 밀어 분노를 사고 있다.

해당 학교의 대변인은 KTVB를 통해 “선생님께서 토끼를 가져오시더니 어떻게 하면 한 가족의 식사가 되는지 보여주겠다고 했다”며 “그러나 이번 건은 생물학 커리큘럼에 포함되지 않는 것이었다”고 말했다.

이 교사는 학생들에게 “원하면 교실 밖에 나가도 된다”고 경고하며 토끼를 구속장치에 넣은 뒤 목을 부러뜨렸다고 해당 매체가 전했다.

그러나 남아 있던 학생들마저 선생님의 행동에 눈살을 찌뿌리며 부모님에게 이 사실을 전한 것으로 알려졌다.

현재 학교 측은 익명의 이 선생님에 대해 징계 조치를 고려하고 있다.
