Seoul is to increase the availability of free dental treatment for vulnerable foreigners from one to three times a week at the Southwest Global Center.
The service will be available on Tuesday and Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The program is open to foreign residents 10 years or older, who cannot receive health insurance benefits.
Treatment includes tooth extraction, nerve treatment and fillings.
Foreign residents with difficulties communicating in Korean will be provided with a medical interpreter.
An increasing number of patients have overloaded the center in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, making it difficult to care for patients who need urgent or long-term treatment.
General medical treatment, rehabilitation and Oriental medicine will also be available on Sunday.
