A nationwide heat-wave alert has been issued. The Korea Meteorological Administration on Friday urged the elderly and children to avoid outdoor activities and drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
A heat-wave warning is issued when the midday high reaches 33 degrees Celsius for two straight days.
The midday high in Seoul, Daejeon, Gwangju, Sejong and Jeongju surged to 33 degrees Celsius on Friday. The weather agency also issued an ozone warning for the northern part of Gyeonggi Province at 1 p.m.
The hot weather is forecast to grip the nation throughout the weekend
